An opportunity to direct developmental and college level reading at a premier community college in an increasingly multi-cultural community. Primary responsibilities include establishing reading instruction systems and processes, developing and modifying courses and curriculum, providing instruction in reading, and working with faculty colleagues to include reading instruction in their courses. This also includes:

Based on student needs, develop, maintain and communicate curriculum and course goals, objectives and outcomes.

Develop, refine and modify course syllabi in reading and college survival skills.

Review placement cut scores and ensure appropriate alignment to courses.

Collaborate with faculty to develop strategies that incorporate reading reinforcement and assignments in courses throughout the curriculum.

Select, develop and evaluate adjunct faculty in the reading and college survival skills course areas to ensure they have appropriate knowledge and skills and that curriculum and course goals are achieved.

Ensure reading course materials and methods are current and effective.

Participate in areas of divisional responsibility such as proposing programs and exhibiting leadership in their implementation; participate on committees in an effective and timely manner; work with other faculty to accomplish the goals of the discipline, division, and college.

Contribute to the governance of the College through active service on committees; participate in faculty orientation sessions, professional development seminars, and activities to enhance professional development.
